Diamond Buying: Know Before You Go!

Buyer Beware! Don’t buy a diamond without knowing its GIA 4C’s clarity grade! Recently, many retail jewelry store chains are developing their own “grading system” for diamonds. The stores are marketing their systems as “simple ways to know a diamond’s quality without having to be a gemologist;” evidently they build from a premise of believing that the average customer is not capable of understanding the 4 C’s of diamonds.

This video, produced by GIA ( the non-profit Gemological Institute of America-founded upon the idea that diamond grades should be standardized to protect buyers from being deceived) demonstrates that in less than ten minutes, a prospective diamond buyer can be equipped with the information needed to not only make an informed purchase, but also to be able to recognize if the seller is both knowledgeable and trustworthy.

At Thollot’s, we spend the time to educate our customers so that they know what to look for in a diamond and how to find the best value. Whether you buy from us or not, we want to make sure that you begin your diamond search with all the information you need to make a wise decision. After you watch this video, visit our diamond showroom and let our GIA Graduate Gemologists show you several diamonds under a microscope. Knowledge is power…know before you go!
