How does the custom jewelry process work?
It starts with a complimentary consultation. We discuss your ideas, inspiration, gemstones, budget, and timeline. From there, we develop the design concept, create renderings or a 3D prototype when appropriate, and move into production once you approve the design.
How much does custom jewelry cost?
Custom jewelry pricing depends on the design, metal, stones, complexity, and timeline. Many clients are surprised to learn that custom design can be more approachable than expected, especially when work is completed in-house. We will talk through your budget early so the design is built around your comfort level.
Can I design a custom engagement ring?
Yes. Custom engagement rings are one of our specialties. We can help you design a ring using a natural diamond, lab-grown diamond, Colorado Cut® diamond, colored gemstone, or heirloom stone.
Can I use my own diamond or gemstone?
In many cases, yes. Our jewelers will inspect your diamond or gemstone to make sure it is suitable for resetting. If the stone is chipped, damaged, or too fragile, we will explain your options clearly.
Can I redesign inherited jewelry?Absolutely. Heirloom redesign is one of the most meaningful types of custom work we do. We can help transform inherited jewelry into something that honors the original piece while making it feel more wearable and personal.
Can I use my own gold?
Sometimes, but it depends on the project. Because old gold may contain unknown alloys, our jewelers often recommend using newly refined and properly alloyed gold for strength, durability, and quality. In some cases, a portion of a client’s gold may be incorporated into the new design.
How long does custom jewelry take?
Timing depends on the design, materials, sourcing, approvals, and production schedule. During your consultation, we will discuss your ideal timeline and let you know what is realistic. If you have a specific date in mind, tell us early so we can plan accordingly.
